The library to the Nordic Studies degree program was opened in 1998 with the financial support from the embassies of Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Iceland, as well as through an important contribution on the part of Prof. Vera Gancheva and Prof. Boris Parashkevov from Sofia University. Bibliotheca Nordica’s unique holdings have been created and enriched through valuable donations from institutions and individuals from all Scandinavian countries. For a short time, along with its academic functions, the library gained reputation as an information center for the history, culture and contemporary life in the Nordic countries.

The thematic scope of its collections, containg over 7,300 library items, is wide and varied - encyclopedias and reference books, dictionaries and textbooks, works on literature and linguistics, fiction, geographical albums, catalogs, audio and videotapes, CDs. There is a separate on-shelf collection of the most used educational materials in various fields of Scandinavian Studies, which continues to be enriched with new acquisitions.
The library has 17 reading places with 3 PC workstations.
