The “Rare Books Collection” in the
University Library includes editions in Bulgarian, Slavic, Classical and Modern European
Languages, from XVI to XIX century: manuscripts, books, periodicals, references,
cartographic and bibliophilic editions, first and lifetime publications of classical writers
of Bulgarian literature, private libraries etc.
Base of this collection are the “Bulgarian
old-printed publications”, containing 2000 volumes books and periodicals. There
are: “Nedelnik” of Sofronii Vrachanski, “Bukvar s razlichni pouchenia” of Petar Beron,
“Balgarska gramatika” of Neofit Rilski, Botev’s newspapers, “Gorski patnik” of G. S.
Rakovski, etc.
The collection of “West European Literature” is
exclusively valuable, it is nationally important. There are included scientific publications
in various science fields: History, Classical philology, Philosophy, Natural sciences,
Mathematics, Law, Art, etc.
The “Rare and Valuable Publications” includes the
private libraries of distinguished Bulgarian scientists – Prof. Boyan Penev, Acad. Ljubomir
Miletich, Prof. Ivan Shishmanov, Prof. Mihail Dragomanov, Prof. Georgi Zlatarski, Prof.
Atanas Ishirkov, Prof. Stefan Stanchev, Prof. Boris Evdokimov, Prof. Boris Galabov, etc.
