Art. 11. 
(1) Library users can use the reading rooms of the Central library and the branch libraries after showing a reader card. (2) Visits to the departments of the Central Library are only allowed after prior notification of the respective department by the security guard.   

Art. 12.  
In order to protect the library holdings, library users is not allowed to: 1. Bring their own books and periodicals; 2 . Use recording , reproducing, photo capturing and other similar devices; 3 . Transfer borrowed items to other library users in the reading room; 4 . Bring food and beverages; 5. Being in a state of alcoholic or narcotic intoxication, bringing very dirty or inappropriate clothing , as well as cold weapons or firearms.   

Art. 13.   
Exceptions under Art. 12, items 1-3, are allowed only with the permission of the head of the "Library and Information Services and Holdings" direction at the Central Library and the Head of the respective branch library.   

Art. 14.  
(1) The use of the cloakroom in the University Library is compulsory and free. 
(2) Upon entry into the Central Library every reader must show the employee of the cloakroom his/her library card to obtain a checklist and a number. 
(3) The University Library does not bring any responsibility of losses of cash and valuables. 
(4) Readers with a luggage, for which there are no storage conditions are not served.   

Art. 15.  
When leaving the Central Library, readers must give back the cloakroom employee their number and checklist.     

SECTION IV - Library and Information Services   

Art. 16
The University Library provides access to its traditional catalogs (books and periodicals) for the library acquisitions till 1992 and an electronic catalog of those acquired after 1992.   

Art. 17. 
(1) Library materials from the main depository of the Central Library and the branch libraries are ordered through a loan request form. 
(2) The loan request form should be filled in accurately and legibly by the reader and transmitted to the librarian at the Circulation Desk of the Central library or the librarian in the respective branch library. 
(3) When requesting library materials, the reader is obliged to submit to the Circulation Desk of the Central Library, or to the librarian on duty in the branch library, his/her library card and the number of the cloakroom (only for the Central Library users). 
(4) The duration of carrying out orders is the following: 1. Up to twenty minutes - the Central Library and branch libraries depositories; 2 . Once a day - for requests of library items from Block 6 at the North Wing of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". 
(5) Requests of special holdings materials (manuscripts, old-print, rare and valuable editions) are made at the Circulation Desk of the Central Library or the branch libraries, and they fell within a special rules of use.  Permission for the use of such materials is given by the head of the direction "Library and Information Services and Holdings ", the heads of the branch libraries and the Director of the University Library. 
(6) Terms of execution of the submitted requests: 1. The Central University Library – up to ten (10) library item requests for Sofia University faculty members and up to five (5) for Sofia University students or outside readers, performed until 17.00 every day. On Saturday requests are not accepted; 2 . Branch libraries - within the opening hours, according to the specifics of the library. 
(7) In cases where the execution of the loan request can not be made within the prescribed time, the librarian has to inform the reader about the reason for the failure of meeting his request and to reflect it in writing on the loan request form. 
(8) Every reader is obliged to suspend work with the borrowed library materials fifteen minutes before the end of the library opening hours and deliver them to the librarian on duty. 
(9) Every reader has the right to retain at the Circulation Desk up to five volumes of library materials within three days. After this term the materials are returned to the respective depository.     

Art. 18.   
After completing the use of library materials from the on-shelf holdings, the reader is obliged to return them to the librarian on duty.   

Art. 19.   
(1) Borrowing library materials for home use is only made via the automated library information system ALEPH 500. 
(2) It is not allowed to borrow for home use of periodicals and publications from the special holdings (manuscripts, old-printed, rare and valuable publications), reference books, expensive and single items and library documents acquired in the University Library under the Depository Law. 
(3) Every faculty member of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" may borrow for home use up to 10 volumes for a period of 30 days. After the expiry of that period if the loan is not renewed, they should be returned to the respective depository. The term of holding library items borrowed for home use may be renewed up to two times. 
( 4) The students at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski " has the right to borrow for home use up to 5 volumes for a period of 30 days only from the branch libraries. After the expiry of that period, in case the borrowed items are not renewed, they should be returned to the respective depository. The library items borrowed for home use can be renewed once. 
(5) Any employee of the University "St. Kliment Ohridski” has the right to borrow for home use up to 5 library items for a period of 30 days from the University Library and the branch libraries. After the expiry of that period, in case the borrowed items are not renewed, they should be returned to the respective depository. The library items borrowed for home use can be renewed once. 
(6) Outside patrons of the University Library is not allowed to borrow library materials for home use.   

Art. 20
Readers or visitors, who destroy the library inventory , behave rudely and arrogantly to the library staff, do not comply with these rules or deliberately undermine the prestige of the University Library by spreading misinformation on its activities, are not allowed to use its services and/or lose their reader's cards (if already issued) .
