img_3050.jpgOn 3rd October 2017 at Sofia University Library “St. Kliment Ohridski” was opened the exhibition “Days of the university book”, with which the Sofia University Press presented different aspects of its rich production. In the exhibition showcases are shown over 150 titles – monographs, magazines and annuals of Sofia University.

Assoc. Prof. Anna Angelova, Director of Sofia University Library “St. Kliment Ohridski” welcomed the guests and showed her satisfaction from the fact, that only a day after the beginning of the academic year in Alma Mater is the opening of the first exhibition. “This exhibition isn’t accidently at all. It is significant on its own way, because it shows the last works of the university lecturers, published by Sofia University Press “St. Kliment Ohridski” and practically reflects the whole spectrum of Alma Mater.“

According to Prof. Valeri Stefanov, Director of Sofia University Press “St. Kliment Ohridski”, the exhibition shows that the university book has its own home and this is Sofia University Library. “There isn’t anything more natural than the connection between one university press and one university library. And if the press makes the books, the library keeps them and makes them available for its readers.” Prof. Stefanov emphasizes, that the socialization of the university book is a big challenge and expresses the hope that with the help of the management of Alma mater the Sofia  University Press will not only survive, but will develop like a true academic institution.

“One true university press can be an active factor in the management of the ideas and books and this is their striving – the academic book to go out on the market, among the publicity and to find their readers.”

Assoc. Prof. Georgi Valtchev, Deputy-Rector of Sofia University emphasized that the exhibition couldn’t be possible, if there weren’t the researches of the lecturers, which are working in the different faculties and marked, that that kind of exhibitions are important, because they show that the University is one complex organism. Assoc. Prof. Valtchev expresses the hope, that the hard crisis on the market of academic literature can be overcomed with sequence, efforts and reasonable politics in that field. He thanked all the staff of the Sofia University Press and the whole Sofia University Library team.
