Assoc. Prof. Anna Angelova, Ph.D., Director of the Sofia University Library “St. Kliment Ohridski” reminded that this library was created with the efforts and ambition of the colleagues from the Department of Cyril and Methodius Studies, the Center for Slavonic-Byzantine Studies and colleagues from the Sofia University Library.

The Rector of Sofia University Prof. Anastas Gerdjikov thanked all the givers for the constant cooperation, which allowed the digital collection to be expanded, as well as the colleagues from Sofia University. Prof. Gerdjikov wished to increase the number of people who use not only the book part of the Sofia University Library, but also the digital collection, which is constantly expanding. "Obviously this is the future, let us all contribute something," the Rector said and wished success.

The first researcher at the collection of the Troyan Monastery – Prof. Boryana Velcheva shared an emotional moment of discovering an unknown damascene and the work on creating an inventory of the Troyan manuscripts.

Prof. Vasya Velinova, Director of the Center for Slavonic-Byzantine Studies, said that in recent years their efforts have focused on Troyan and Lovech areas, and thanks to the responsiveness of His Eminence Sionii, bishop and abbot of the monastery, they managed to review the monastery manuscript collection.

"The basis of our work, of course, was the inventory of Prof. Boryana Velcheva and Prof. Stefan Kozhuharov, but when we made detailed inquiries about it, it turned out that new manuscripts from nearby churches are added, which the abbot has gathered in good faith and so to say has rescued so that today we can take advantage of them and engage in various scientific studies." After digitization, the manuscripts and a digital copy of each of them were handed to the Troyan monastery: "I think this is the only way - rescuing surviving manuscripts as a resistance against oblivion and I hope to have the happiness of adding new and new ones every year."

Father Kozma from the monastery's brotherhood at the Zographou cloister presented a special gift from the monastery Zographou - an icon of the iconographer monk Methodius. The icon is innovative, with a composition of color and styling inspired by a Byzantine miniature. On one side is depicted the Holy Martyr George, who offers in the gift of Christ the monastery, and on the other side is St. Kliment Ohridski, who offers in the gift of Christ the University.

He noted that the joining of other collections to the Zographou Electronic Research Library was glad because the horizons of the springs that could be used for new studies were expanding and by studying manuscripts the history and culture of Bulgaria and the Balkan Peninsula were studied in а much wider perspective. Father Kozma said: "The Zographou room is a project that has a perspective and a look into the future, and our desire is to extend this room not only with Slavic documents, but also to bring papers and manuscripts in other languages in the near future - more in Greek, in Wallachian, in Arabic languages."

In conclusion Assoc. Prof. Angelova remarked: “Our Zographou room is gaining speed and every year we try to present more and more manuscripts, and more than 600 manuscripts can be used in a digital format in the Philology library. I hope that the next year we will enrich the Zographou room with one or two collections, which are in the project. We will provide more and more new opportunities that will expand the scientific horizon for all researchers along with the common efforts of scientists and librarians to unveil our literary cultural heritage.”
